PDF Toolkit – Merge, Split, Edit & Organize PDFs Online
About PDF Toolkit
A complete set of PDF tools that run entirely in your browser. Combine files, pull out pages, rearrange or rotate them, and add text, drawings, highlights and images — without uploading a single file.
Most online PDF tools upload your document to a server, process it there, and send it back. ToolsNest does not: merging, splitting, rotating, organizing and editing all happen locally using your browser, so confidential contracts, statements, and scans never leave your device.
There is no account, no watermark, and no page or file-size cap beyond what your device can hold in memory. It works the same on desktop and mobile.
Which tab for which job
Merge combines several PDFs in the order shown, so drag the files into the order you want before you merge — the output follows the order on screen. Split pulls out pages or page ranges into a new file, which is the quickest way to send one part of a long document. Organize / Rotate rearranges, rotates and removes pages in one PDF, and is the fix for a sideways scan or a stray blank page. Edit adds text, drawings, highlights, white-out boxes and images on top of the existing pages.
A typical flow chains them: merge a statement and a covering letter, drop the page you do not want in Organize, then add a signature in Edit. Each tab saves a new file, so you can stop and check at any step.
What Edit can and cannot do
Edit is an annotation and markup layer. The original page text stays exactly as it was — still selectable and searchable — and what you add is drawn on top. That makes it the right tool for filling in a form, adding a typed or drawn signature, highlighting passages or stamping a note. It cannot change or delete the words already in the PDF; for that you need the source document, or a full PDF editor.
Typed text uses the standard Helvetica, Times and Courier families, which cover Latin text. Languages such as Chinese, Arabic or Hindi cannot be typed in; characters the font lacks are replaced with a question mark and a note says so. For a signature in any script, draw it with the ink tool instead.
Blacking out information safely
White-out and filled rectangles hide text visually, but they do not remove it: the words underneath remain in the file and can be copied by anyone who selects the area. Treat white-out as a way to tidy a page, not as secure redaction. If a document contains something that must not be shared — an account number, an ID — remove the whole page, or print the redacted page to PDF or take a screenshot of it so the underlying text is genuinely gone.
Troubleshooting and limits
A password-protected PDF is rejected with a message, as encrypted files cannot be opened yet; remove the password first. If thumbnails are slow to appear, the file is large — everything is processed in your browser's memory, so size is limited by the device and a phone copes with fewer pages than a laptop. A merged file larger than you expected usually means one of the inputs was a high-resolution scan; compress it with Compress PDF before or after merging.
What you can use it for
- Combine several scanned pages into one PDF to email or upload.
- Split a long report and share only the pages someone asked for.
- Sign or fill a form by adding text and a drawn signature on top of the page.
- Fix a sideways scan by rotating pages, or drop a blank page you do not need.
- Black out or white-out sensitive lines before sharing a document.

Frequently asked questions
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. Every operation runs in your browser using JavaScript. Your files are never uploaded, stored, or logged.
Is the PDF Toolkit really free?
Yes — merge, split, rotate, organize and edit are all free, with no account, no watermark, and no page limits.
Can I edit text in a PDF?
You can add new text, drawings, highlights, white-out boxes and images on top of the page in the Edit tab. Rewriting the original text of a PDF is not supported — it is an annotation and markup layer.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The toolkit is built for mobile browsers as well as desktop.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit. Because processing happens on your device, very large files are bounded by your device's available memory.
Can it open password-protected PDFs?
Not yet — encrypted PDFs are rejected with a clear message. Remove the password first, then use the toolkit.
