QR Code Generator
About QR Code Generator
Turn a URL, block of text, Wi-Fi network, or contact card into a QR code, previewed live as you type. Download it as a PNG for general use or an SVG for print at any size.
Most free QR generators online quietly turn your "static" QR code into a dynamic one that redirects through their own server — which means it can stop working if they ever shut down, get rate-limited, or decide to put an ad in the redirect, and it means every scan is tracked by them. Every QR code here is generated once, entirely in your browser, and encodes your content directly. There is no redirect, no tracking, no expiry, and it will still work in ten years because nothing about it depends on this site staying online.
Four modes cover what people actually need a QR code for: a URL (the classic case — a link, a menu, a profile), plain text (anything else you want someone to be able to scan and read), a Wi-Fi network (so a guest can join by scanning instead of typing a password), and a contact card (a vCard that adds a name, phone, email and organization directly to the scanner's contacts app).
The Wi-Fi and contact modes generate a real, standards-based payload (the WIFI: format phones already recognise, and a vCard 3.0 contact card) — not just a link to a page describing them.
What you can use it for
- Put a QR code on a printed flyer, menu, or poster linking to a website
- Let guests join your Wi-Fi by scanning instead of typing a password
- Share a contact card that adds straight into someone's phone
- Add a QR code to a business card or product packaging
- Encode any short text — a code, a message, a reference number
Frequently asked questions
Does this QR code expire or stop working?
No. It's a "static" QR code — the content is encoded directly into the code itself, not a link to a redirect service. It will keep working indefinitely, with no dependency on this site.
Is anything I enter sent to a server?
No. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser. Nobody — including us — sees what you encode, and nothing is tracked when it's scanned.
Will the Wi-Fi QR code work on both iPhone and Android?
Yes. It uses the WIFI: format that both Android's and iOS's built-in camera apps recognise as a network to join — no app install needed on either platform.
What's the difference between PNG and SVG?
PNG is a fixed-resolution image — fine for screens and most printing. SVG is vector-based and stays perfectly sharp at any size, which matters if you're printing the code very large (a poster or banner) or very small.
Can I customize the color or add a logo?
Not currently — colors are kept to plain black-on-white because that's what scans most reliably across the widest range of cameras and lighting. Heavy customization is a common cause of QR codes that fail to scan.
