About Scientific Calculator
Type or tap out an expression — including trig functions, logarithms, powers, and roots — and see the result live, with degree/radian switching for angles.
A basic calculator covers arithmetic; this adds the functions that come up in coursework and everyday science and engineering questions — sine, cosine, tangent and their inverses, natural and base-10 logarithms, square roots, powers, and the constants π and e — without needing a physical calculator or a phone app.
Expressions can be typed directly (standard order of operations applies: powers before multiplication and division, before addition and subtraction) or built up with the buttons, and both stay in sync — type sin(30) or tap the buttons for the same thing.
Trig functions default to degrees, the more common everyday convention, with a one-tap switch to radians for anything working directly in radian measure. The Deg/Rad setting applies to every trig function on the page.
What you can use it for
- Work through a homework problem involving sine, cosine, or logarithms.
- Check a calculation that involves a square root, a power, or π without switching apps.
- Evaluate a multi-step expression with parentheses in one go.
- Convert between degree- and radian-based trig calculations.
- Double-check a result from a physical calculator.
How it works, step by step
- 1
Type or tap an expression
Use the field directly, or build it up with the buttons.
- 2
Set the angle mode
Switch between Degrees and Radians for trig functions.
- 3
Read the live result
The answer updates as you type — no equals button needed.
Frequently asked questions
Does it use degrees or radians for sin, cos, and tan?
Degrees by default — switch to Radians with the toggle above the display if that's what your calculation needs.
What operators and functions are supported?
+, -, *, /, ^ (power), parentheses, sin/cos/tan and their inverses, sqrt, ln (natural log), log (base 10), abs, exp, and the constants pi and e.
Can I type an expression instead of using the buttons?
Yes — the display field accepts typed input directly, using standard math notation like sin(45) or 2^10.
Is my calculation sent anywhere?
No. Every expression is evaluated entirely in your browser.
