About Background Remover
Remove a clean, solid, or edge-connected image background and save the result as a transparent PNG. The image is processed entirely in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
This tool is built for the common background-removal jobs that do not need a heavyweight AI model: product photos on white, screenshots, simple studio-style images, icons, and clean solid backgrounds. It samples the background color, removes the connected area, and lets you adjust the tolerance or click a different background point.
Because it runs with the browser's canvas, it is private and fast to load. It keeps the original pixel size and exports PNG so transparency is preserved.
This V1 is deliberately honest: it is not an AI hair-and-fur cutout model. Busy scenes, shadows, hair, and backgrounds similar to the subject may need manual cleanup or a future ML upgrade.

Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is decoded, masked, previewed and exported entirely in your browser. ToolsNest does not upload or store it.
Does this use AI?
No. This V1 uses a fast canvas color/connected-area mask. That keeps it lightweight and private, but it is best for clean backgrounds rather than complex hair, fur, or busy scenes.
What image types are supported?
JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, and HEIF are supported through the same local decoder used by ToolsNest's image tools. The download is always PNG so transparency is preserved.
Why did part of my subject disappear?
The tolerance is probably too high, or the subject is too close in color to the background. Lower tolerance, reset the mask, and click a cleaner background area.
Can it remove a complex photo background?
Only sometimes. For complex backgrounds, hair, and fine edges, a later ML-based version may be better; this version is intentionally optimized for simple, clean backgrounds.
