PNG to JPG Converter

About Image Format Converter

Convert PNG images and screenshots to JPG — usually a much smaller file that every form, inbox and app accepts. One file or a whole batch.

PNG is lossless, which is exactly right for screenshots and graphics while you're working on them and exactly wrong once you need to send them somewhere. A full-screen PNG screenshot from a phone or a high-resolution PNG photo is often several megabytes, and many upload forms — job applications, exam and government portals, marketplaces — accept only JPG or cap the size. Converting to JPG typically shrinks a photographic PNG to a fraction of its size with no difference you can see.

This page opens with JPG selected. Add your PNGs, convert, download: one image comes back as a .jpg with the same name, a batch comes back as a zip. Width and height don't change.

Transparency is the one real trade-off. JPG has no transparent pixels, so any see-through area of the PNG — a logo, an icon, a cut-out product shot — is filled with white rather than black. For those, PNG or WebP is usually the better output; you can switch format right in the tool. It's also worth knowing that a PNG of flat colours and sharp text (a chart, a UI screenshot) may compress less dramatically and can show faint edge artifacts as JPG — for those, keeping PNG is often the better call.

If the JPG still needs to be under a specific size, like 100 KB for a form, the Image Resizer can hit an exact target. Everything here runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

What you can use it for

  • Shrink a PNG screenshot before attaching it to an email
  • Meet an upload form's JPG-only requirement
  • Convert PNG photos exported from an editor to JPG for sharing
  • Batch-convert a set of PNG images to JPG in one go

Frequently asked questions

Why is my PNG so much bigger than a JPG?

PNG stores every pixel exactly (lossless). JPG uses compression tuned for photographs, which throws away detail your eye doesn't notice — so for a photo the JPG is usually several times smaller.

What happens to a transparent background?

It becomes white, because JPG can't store transparency. Choose PNG or WebP to keep it.

Can I make the JPG smaller still?

Yes — use the Image Resizer to compress to an exact size such as 100 KB or 200 KB, or to reduce the dimensions.

Is my image uploaded?

No, the conversion happens on your device.
