About Video Editor
Quick, everyday video fixes — cut a clip down to just the part you want, straighten a sideways recording, crop out the edges, or strip the audio — with nothing uploaded. This isn't a full timeline editor; it's the handful of edits most short clips actually need.
Trim sets a start and end point (drag the sliders, or play the clip and tap "Use current" to grab the exact spot you're at) and exports only what's between them. Rotate steps in 90° turns for a video that recorded sideways, with a preview frame so you can see the result before committing. Crop works the same way, with a draggable rectangle and the same aspect-ratio presets Photo Editor uses.
Muting removes the audio track entirely from the exported file — useful for a clip meant to be background footage, or one recorded somewhere too noisy to keep the sound.
Exporting genuinely has to play through the trimmed section once to re-record it, so it takes roughly as long as the trimmed clip's own length — stated plainly rather than hidden, the same honesty as Photo Organizer's optional video compression, which this tool shares its recording technique with. Everything happens in your browser; your video is never uploaded.
What you can use it for
- Cut a long recording down to just the clip you actually want to share
- Straighten a video that was recorded sideways
- Crop out a distracting edge or change the aspect ratio for a specific platform
- Remove the audio from a video before using it as silent background footage
- Make a quick edit to a video without installing an app

Frequently asked questions
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. Trimming, rotating, cropping, and muting all happen entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.
Why does exporting take a while?
The browser has to actually play through the trimmed section once to re-record it — there's no shortcut for that with the on-device technique this tool uses (no heavy video-processing library). A 30-second trimmed clip takes roughly 30 seconds to export.
What output format do I get?
MP4 (H.264) when your browser's encoder supports it — it plays natively on iPhone, QuickTime, and most devices. Otherwise it falls back to WebM, which the tool tells you plainly if it happens.
Which browsers does this work in?
Chrome, Edge, and other Chromium browsers, which support the `MediaRecorder` recording this tool is built on. Safari and Firefox aren't supported yet.
Does cropping or rotating reduce video quality?
Rotating or cropping redraws each frame through a canvas before re-recording, which caps the frame rate at 30fps — a real tradeoff on a 60fps source, stated here rather than hidden. A plain trim with no rotate or crop keeps the source's original frame rate.
